French Residence Permit for Pensioners

Friends, more and more often in our practice we encounter cases when clients come to us repeatedly. We value this trust and are happy to share new successful cases with you.

At the beginning of 2022, we were approached by a couple from St. Petersburg: Yuri (65), a professor, and his wife Oksana (65), a French teacher. The couple needed help in obtaining a French national D visa. The couple was planning a trip to France to visit their son - to see the sights, get acquainted with the local life, and possibly get a new migration status - permanent residence.

For entry, we prepared the following package of documents:

  1. application;
  2. a resident's passport and a foreign passport;
  3. medical insurance policy;
  4. hotel reservation agreement;
  5. an invitation from my son;
  6. a bank statement.

To the documents, we also enclosed booked round-trip airplane tickets. In 15 days the spouses received a visa and in the middle of February, they flew to France.

In mid-September, Yuri and Oksana again applied to our agency with a request for a visa extension in the residence permit card. The couple enjoyed their winter visit to France so much that they decided to visit the country as often as possible. The couple intended to sell one of their apartments on Nevsky Prospekt and buy a property in Chans-sur-Marne (a suburb of Paris).

We needed to collect documents for Carte de sejour temporaire - Visiteur. We promptly collected and prepared all the necessary documents - in the first days of October we submitted the full package to the consulate for consideration:

  • application forms;
  • passports with a valid national visa D;
  • photo for documents;
  • updated health insurance policies (the required amount of coverage for the EU starts at €30,000);
  • real estate ownership agreement (since the couple wanted to buy the apartment slowly after obtaining the residence permit status, they provided a real estate ownership agreement).
  • residence permit status, they provided a document that they will live with their son in Paris for 3 months);
  • certificates of absence of criminal record;
  • receipts for payment of fees and duties;
  • birth certificates;
  • marriage certificate;
  • a statement confirming solvency.

The documents were also apostilled and translated into French.

At the end of December, we received a request - the commission needed clarification on income and housing. We promptly made corrections and submitted updated information. Despite the Christmas vacation in France, in early January our clients received approval! The process of printing residence cards was a little bit delayed - at the end of April Oksana and Yuri took their finished cards and again remotely contacted us, so that our agent could help them find and buy an apartment in the suburbs of Paris, and also they needed help in opening a current account in a local bank.

In May, our agent picked up three housing options in different suburbs of Paris within the client's budget. The couple liked a one-bedroom apartment in Fontenay-sous-Bois (Ile-de-France, Val-de-Marne). At the beginning of June, all the issues were settled and the couple moved into their new home!

With the status of residence permit, Yuri and Oksana can travel around Europe, enjoy life in a comfortable and safe country, get a European-style driver's license, and have access to quality medicine.
