Residence Permit as a Financially Independent Person in France under Quarantine Restrictions

Nikolay A. from Moscow, 38 years old. Single. General director of a construction company.

Applied in June 2021. The goal is to obtain a residence permit in France as an FNP. Time does not exclude moving to this country for permanent residence.

In the first conversation with the consultants, the following details were added:

  • in addition to income as a CEO, Nikolay has passive income - selling shares on the stock market;
  • the client has an account in a German bank;
  • Nikolay bought an apartment in a new building in Moscow, but the building had not yet been commissioned, and they decided not to show this property in the documents.

The client's income level allowed him to apply for a “visitor's visa” and obtain a residence permit as a financially independent person in France.

Initially, there was one peculiarity in the story. Due to the restrictions associated with the pandemic, the French Embassy in Moscow did not accept applications for “visitor visas”. Nikolai agreed to cooperate for two reasons:

  • He was guaranteed full support at all stages of the case review;
  • We immediately started tracking the start of enrollment. As soon as the embassy starts accepting applications, Nikolay with a prepared package of documents will be among the first in the queue.

In August, the case for obtaining a “visitor's visa” was ready. Before that we had completed the following necessary procedures:

  1. The necessary documents are collected and checked.
  2. A virtual real estate lease has been arranged for the client in France. Taking into account further plans, in the future we will help him to find a real home to buy or rent.
  3. We did not open an account in a French bank. To prove Nikolay's financial condition, we took statements of his accounts in banks in Russia and Germany.

At the end of September, after the resumption of applications, Nikolai handed in the documents, was interviewed at the embassy, and was able to visit France.

From there, he sent the lawyers a scan of his passport with an entry stamp. The visa was activated in the online system of the French migration service to give it the status of a residence permit card for a year. The visa itself was pasted into the client's passport by migration officials.

Exactly one year later, at the end of the validity period of the “visitor's visa”, the client will receive a separate residence permit card. For this purpose, we will collect a package of necessary documents, and the client will submit biometric data.
