Montenegro citizenship. The youngest investment program in Europe. The story of one case.

Igor S, 48, is a resident of Ryazan. He has a large family: a wife and three children. In his hometown he is successfully engaged in the hotel business, owns three hotels. Applied in October 2019 with a request to obtain citizenship of Montenegro.

The family has vacationed in Montenegro several times, remained satisfied with the country. Igor professionally assessed the hotel potential of local resort towns, got acquainted with compatriots engaged in the hotel business in Montenegro.

And also learned that the country has launched a program that allows you to get its citizenship in exchange for investment. And the objects of investment are usually shares in hotels. The client decided that this was a good way to develop his own business in a country that is mentally, culturally and geographically close to Russia.

During the conversation with Igor, the consultants drew his attention to other important advantages of the program. In particular:

1. Montenegro has signed an agreement with Brussels to join the EU in 2025. An investor who obtains citizenship here will become an EU citizen this year.
2. Favorable tax conditions have been created for entrepreneurs in Montenegro. For example, taxes on individuals and legal entities - 9%, and VAT - 21%, moreover, it is paid if the annual turnover exceeds 18 thousand euros. 
3. The amount of investment in the Montenegro program does not depend on the size of the applicant's family. This is advantageous for large families like Igor's.

The work on this case lasted about 5 months. Without going into details, let us dwell on the key points.

• We assisted the client in selecting and formalizing the investment object. Igor bought a 10-room mini-hotel in Sutomore, a town in the Barska Riviera region. The building is located in a quiet place, close to a cozy beach. The family has reserved two rooms for their own accommodation, the rest will be rented out.
• After the deal was finalized, they submitted the client's documents to the Federal Citizenship Agency of Montenegro.
• After receiving a positive response, Igor and his family visited Montenegro in early February 2020, passed biometrics and received their passports.

How the case ended. The client, his wife and children became citizens of Montenegro.
