Residence permit as FNL in France for grandmother, student daughter and granddaughter

Irina K, 52 years old, from Moscow. Applied in June 2020.

The essence of the appeal. Irina has an adult married daughter Anna and a 5-year-old granddaughter. Anna is a nurse, entered a medical school in France. She is now going to study, with Irina and her granddaughter planning to travel with her.

The clients' goal is a long term visa to France.

In conversation with Irina 2 options were suggested:

1. Make everyone a residence permit for FNL in France.
2. To make Anna a student visa.

We decided on option #1. It has several advantages. In particular, its status is much higher, as:

• All three will get residence permits:
• in the future it is possible to move to permanent residence or French citizenship.

The case was divided into 2 different cases: on Irina and on Anna's family. The reason: according to the conditions, Irina, as the main applicant, could not include her granddaughter in the family.

Stages of the process

 June-July - collection, preparation and preliminary verification of all necessary documents.

Documents were submitted to the French Embassy in Moscow to obtain ‘visitor's visas’ at the end of August. Due to the pandemic, the embassy was accepting applications irregularly, with long interruptions. We constantly monitored the embassy's ‘working windows’, and the clients were immediately admitted.

The end of September, visas are ready, Irina and her daughter leave for France. By this time,

• the lawyers made the clients virtual property rentals in France;
• collected evidence of their financial status using accounts in Russian banks.

From France, Irina and Anna sent us copies of passports with entry stamps. Scans of these documents were sent by the lawyers to the online system of the French migration authorities. The visas were activated and the family was successfully granted residence permit status for one year.

The goal of obtaining a French residence permit had been achieved.

After one year, when the ‘visitor's visa’ expires, Irina and Anna will receive residence permit cards. They will be renewed annually. The clients will only be required to submit fingerprints on the documents.

After 5 years, if they wish, they can obtain permanent residence status and apply for French citizenship.
