Grenadian Citizenship: Travel to China with a Caribbean Passport

Entrepreneur Natalia from Saratov, 36 years old. Divorced, raising two daughters. Before the pandemic, Natalia opened her first children's clothing store.

During the crisis, she successfully transitioned to online sales, which allowed her to expand her business to two stores.

She frequently traveled to China to purchase goods using tourist visas. However, during the quarantine restrictions, visa issuance was suspended. In search of a solution, Natalia reached out to us in March 2021.

The winning option was obtaining visa-free access to China, a right that a Grenadian passport could provide. Natalia did not initially set such grand goals, but the idea of second citizenship appealed to her.

In addition to the ability to easily travel to China to source goods for her stores, she also appreciated other benefits of the Caribbean passport, including:

  • Visa-free access to over 130 countries;
  • Educational benefits for her children in the United Kingdom;
  • Easier access to the U.S. E-2 business visa.

Moreover, Grenadian citizenship did not require her to live in Grenada or renounce her current passport.

Based on her stated budget, the option of non-refundable investment in the National Fund was selected.

Citizenship Application Process

After signing the cooperation agreement and conducting a preliminary background check, the lawyers began gathering the documents required for the Due Diligence and citizenship application.

Some difficulties arose with obtaining the father's permission for the Grenadian citizenship of the minor children. This caused a slight delay. However, her ex-husband eventually signed the necessary documents, and the girls were included in the application alongside Natalia.

All investment residency and citizenship programs worldwide require applications for minor children to include the consent of both parents, except in cases where a court has granted full custody to one parent.

During this time, the lawyers gathered the full set of documents, had a special fingerprint form notarized, and completed apostilles and certified translations.

In April, the documents were submitted in Grenada through our local agent, Margaret Wilkinson (licensed company “Infinity (Grenada) Incorporation”), for government Due Diligence and citizenship approval.

Natalia paid the due diligence fees and other associated costs (application fee, processing fee, and legal fees for document preparation).

The wait for the results of the government review took just over a month.

In June, the Due Diligence results came back: Natalia was accepted into the citizenship program. She transferred 100% of the investment contribution to Grenada's National Development Fund.

After receiving her naturalization certificate, Natalia took the oath of allegiance online.

Two weeks later, we personally handed her the Grenadian passport.

Case Results

In less than three months, Natalia and her minor children were granted Grenadian citizenship. The second passport not only allowed her to make business trips to China as she initially intended, but it also opened up new vacation destinations in Europe for her family.
